From Duncan and Fredrick, Ministers in Kilifi and Kaloleni...

Hello and praise the Lord!

We here bring many greetings from Kibarani Church of Christ and the churches of Christ in Kaloleni District. Receive special greetings from Muthumia Benson Luganje. He is fine in the Lord and busy doing God’s work. The rains are good and he expects a good harvest. Daniel Kahindi sends many greetings too. He is struggling with diabetes. He is currently undergoing herbal treatment. Please assist him with prayers.

Titus Ziro is fine in the Lord. He has been busy doing Bible studies at Maziachenda and Neema Churches of Christ. For the past two weeks, he has been very busy assisting the youth who came with James Beck. He is teaching them Kiswahili.

The young men and ladies who came with James Beck will be at the Coast until the 23rd of June 2010. They are organizing a Youth seminar which will be on 12th of June 2010. Titus is assisting Jeremiah with the planning.

Titus is a devoted young man who has been instrumental in the establishment of Shingila preaching point. He has a passion for children and the youth. That is why we agreed that he should coordinate all issues to do with the youth.

Titus has a prayer request. He has been suffering with abdominal ulcers for some years now. Another problem is of a hernia. Let us join forces in asking the great physician to heal our dear brother Titus.

Brother Justsus is a talented preacher and a passionate evangelist. He is also the one coordinating evangelism campaigns. Apart from that, he is involved in leading Bible Study groups at Kibarani and Shingila.

Brother Justus has a diploma in Community Development from East African Institute of Development and a diploma in Bible and Missions. This makes him well placed to deal with the community both in matters spiritual and physical.

Since the beginning of this month, he has consistently continued teaching Bible studies at Shingila and Kibarani and serving as the preacher at Shingila preaching point. There is a team of private students who registered for KCSE who asked for Maarifa’s assistance in teaching certain subjects. Justus volunteered to teach Biology and Business studies. Some of these students are not believers. Justus says that it is a good opportunity to share with them the life-giving message of the savior.

One of his prayer requests concerns his plans to wed if possible this year.

Christine Khadija is now doing very well. Her health is now stable. She is assisting Ganda Miwani Church of Christ and Muyu wa Nyuchi Church of Christ in Bible study. She also serves as the assistant youth minister at Ganda Miwani Church of Christ.

In April, we had a Women’s seminar at Uzima Training Center. Christine Khadija assisted the organizing committee in planning for the seminar.

The church has been really assisting Christine since the family and health problems she had. A recent report from Daniel Kahindi (Christine’s church leader) says that the church, Christine’s mother and Christine herself were having fasting prayers every month about the family problems. They profess good progress especially on the relationship between Christine’s parents.

It is unfortunate that we do not have financial support for Christine but hope that God will make a way soon. We are also waiting for a confirmation letter from the church so that we can send her back to Nairobi Great Commission School to finish her Diploma in Bible and Missions.

Our plan (Fredrick and Duncan) is to see Titus, Justus, and Christine working as a team. We know that there may be a feeling that we have left out Christine Khadija especially due to the fact that she does not receive support. But we are trying our best to involve her and support her with whatever we have. We wholeheartedly thank Intercede for the support, prayers and love they have consistently shown to us. God bless you all abundantly.

Your brothers in Christ,
Fredrick Kaingu and Duncan Ziro.

From John Chengo, Sponsored Medical Student...

Hello ndugu zangu. How have you been since then? I thank God that I'm doing well after the long semester at the University. We have now taken a break for around two weeks then we go back for another semester. I finished my end of semester exams on 23rd of April and traveled home the same day. I'm now at home(Msabaha), and I thank God that everyone is fine except mum. Let me give you the break down of next semester's invoice for my fees.

TOTAL CREDIT HOURS ARE 20

UNITS TO BE TAKEN CREDIT HOURS
HAEMATOLOGY 4
MEDICAL BACTERIOLOGY 4
MEDICAL VIROLOGY 4
PHARMERCOLOGY 4
HISTOPARTHOLOGY 4

TOTAL HOURS 20

Note: Next semester's credit hours will be 20 because the units are 5 and each has 4 hours. If I take one more unit then the hours will be more than the required maximum number of hours. One is allowed to take more than 21 hour but will be charged an extra amount for every excess hour.

Mum is now improving though she is still visiting Pandya Hospital twice a week for the Haemodialysis. She is not able to form any urine because her kidneys have both failed to work. The body's excess fluids, waste products and toxins have to be regularly removed through dialysis probably for the rest of her life. Please be praying for her, for Dad and all of us,because this condition is very expensive to maintain but only God knows what He is going to do.

Nashukuru sana ndugu zangu kwa mavoyo na wavizi Wa Intercede. Mulungu amuhase nyosi na amasihia osi ambao manahuvoyera.

Next semester starts on 10th May 2010. Students are supposed to register before this date and pay the fees. God bless.

Bro John Chengo.

Prayer request from John Chengo, Sponsored Medical Student...

Ok bro, am sorry that you are not aware that mum has been admitted and she has been with dad for the whole of this week at Pandya Hospital in Mombasa. She has a chronic renal failure that has led to disfunction of both kidneys. This has been as a result of hypertension which has been out of control.

Her kidneys are now NOT able to eliminate the excess ions and toxins in her body and even some dangerous organic compounds. These substances are like sodium, potassium, urea, uric acid and many. Because these substances can not be eliminated by the kidneys, then they get accumulated in the blood and this needs an artificial process of eliminating them hence the dialysis option.

Dialysis is a very expensive way of dealing with this life threatening condition as it needs to be done as soon as these compounds accumulate again in the blood. It has to be done for the rest of ones life. However there is another option of a kidney transplant of which it can somehow control the condition but it is very complicated, sensitive and expensive process. So far, we are still monitoring her condition of which is not that stable. She has gone through the first round for dialysis. Let me sing out ili nikarye wari, will give you more info.

Bro John.

From Max, Minister to Mexico...

It's an experience you don't easily forget!

I just returned from Hidalgo, Mexico and the port in Veracruz. Was there with Norma Hernandez and a friend of Betty Cavazos in Monterrey. Norma was converted in Monterrey about two years ago by Betty and Eguren brothers. Norma’s dad still lives in Monterrey and attends the Independence congregation. Norma left Monterrey two years ago for a small Indian village in the mountains of Hidalgo. She lives and ministers among 24 families on a small portion of land the government has given them. The nearest town is 45 miles away! They have to ride in the back of a pickup into town and back. You hold on to the rails in the truck with one hand (while standing!) and hold on to your groceries with the other!

Norma, Betty and I left by bus on Thursday at 7:00pm and arrived in their village at 1:00pm the next afternoon. When we arrived, Norma’s family was waiting for us. They made us feel very welcome in their humble home. It was a great honor to be there. The beds were simple and the bathrooms were outside with the ducks, chickens, and pigs. The place to wash up was also outside. The stove was a single-burner wood-burning type that served as much as a heater as a place to cook! Coffee and snacks were served in the morning; breakfast came at about 11:00am; and Dinner came at about 5:00pm. It was very cold and hard to heat up the place, even though I wore two or three sweaters!

We studied with them from about 9:00am until 5:00pm each day. We studied Pentecostal and Jehovah’s Witness beliefs a lot. We also studied the book of Acts, and other foundational N.T. teachings. We brought many books with us and translated as much as possible into Spanish for them to study more on their own. Our study time was wonderful. They took notes and asked many questions. In the end, we had three baptisms: Giovani Granados Hernandez age 13, Yareli Granados Hernandez age 14; and the mother Ema Granados Hernandez age 46 were all baptized. Then on Sunday afternoon we had our first congregational service. It was conducted by Norma’s father, brother and me. We had the Lord’s Supper and were blessed with a wonderful first service together. Afterwards, Betty took out her Sunday school material and taught the children and Norma how to have classes together.

We left on Monday afternoon and arrived back in Monterrey on Tuesday morning. I left Monterrey on Tuesday afternoon after a very tiring trip. It was a 2,000 mile trip that I'll never forget. We are always pleased with the help received and continue to make future plans for the Lord's sake.

For the cause of Christ,
Max R. Zamorano
