INTERCEDE is a non-profit, faith-based organization established to help provide opportunities to individuals and communities that will aid in their growth and wellbeing. The focus is education and community development in East Africa.
INTERCEDE recognizes the need that exists and has been developing community programs to aid in basic education and the reduction of poverty. Education for all is central to any society. Evidence clearly shows that education – in particular, secondary education – is critical to poverty reduction and community development.
INTERCEDE has been assisting young people by providing thousands of dollars in scholarships for further education. If it were not for the scholarships, many young African men and women from the rural areas would have missed the opportunity to attend university, trade school, or even high school.
In the last six years, INTERCEDE has helped five young men further their education. Each one returned home to contribute to the growth and development of his home community. Duncan Ziro and Fredrick Kaingu currently serve with INTERCEDE to educate communities in the areas of basic health and hygiene, HIV and AIDS, Bible, and more.
The program of sponsorship is ongoing. INTERCEDE will continue to sponsor young people as they further their education and training. These men and women will then return home and work with INTERCEDE as coordinators and educators to strengthen the communities in which they serve.
